Known as the "Garden City", Victoria boasts the mildest climate in Canada with flowers in bloom year-round. Temperatures range between 0° - 9° C in winter and 10° - 29° C in summer. An average rainfall of 66.5 cm is substantially less than Vancouver or Seattle and snow is quite rare during the winter.

Victoria is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Vancouver Island is very accessible with regular ferry connections to Vancouver and Washington State in the US. The Victoria International Airport has more than 50 daily flights mainly to Vancouver and Seattle and there is a large number of float planes to transport people from downtown Victoria to downtown Vancouver or Seattle.

Victoria is the capital of British Columbia and was established in 1843 as a fort for the Hudson's Bay Company. Greater Victoria is composed of four municipalities: Victoria, Oak Bay, Esquimalt and Saanich and has a population of about 320,000.

With such great weather there is an abundance of outdoor activities. There are 48 regional, provincial and federal parks in Greater Victoria. Golf, hiking, cycling, diving, fishing, gardening, horseback riding, kayaking, and boating are some of the pastimes that Victoria residents enjoy.
